SpiderPi Pro
The SpiderPi hexapod with a 5DOF vision robot arm, for picking, sorting and ball kicking on Raspberry Pi.
- Raspberry Pi
- Suggested for secondary
- Suggested for university
SpiderPi Pro is SpiderPi with a 5DOF robot arm. The hexapod is powered by a Raspberry Pi 5 or 4B and driven by high-voltage bus servos with 20kg of torque, and its HD wide-angle camera sits on the arm. Using OpenCV and inverse kinematics, SpiderPi Pro picks up blocks and carries them to matching areas, tracks and kicks a ball, follows lines and recognises shapes, showing each one on its dot matrix display. A glowing ultrasonic sensor and an IMU complete the sensors. It is programmed in Python, and Hiwonder provides schematics, source code, video tutorials and experiments.
Zeta42 is an authorised Hiwonder partner in the Middle East.

What it does
Built for.
5DOF vision arm
The camera rides on the arm, and after judging a block's position and distance, the arm picks it up by inverse kinematics.
Sorting and transferring
SpiderPi Pro recognises different blocks, picks them up and carries each one to the matching area on its own.
Tracking and kicking
It tracks a target, works out its relative position and switches gait automatically to kick the ball or block.
Lines and shapes
OpenCV picks out black, white and red lines for line following, and the LED dot matrix module shows the shapes it recognises.
Control without code
Drive it from the WonderPi app, the PC software or a wireless controller, and edit action groups by dragging sliders.
Sensors and servos
An IMU in the controller senses body attitude and direction of travel, and the 11.1V high-voltage servos use less power for longer running.
