miniHexa
An entry-level ESP32 hexapod with 18 servos, coded in Arduino, with vision and voice in the Advanced Kit.
- Arduino
- ESP32
- Suggested for secondary
miniHexa is an entry-level hexapod robot built around an ESP32 controller and 18 anti-stall micro servos, three in each leg. Built-in inverse kinematics give smooth 360° omnidirectional movement, a glowing ultrasonic sensor lets it measure distance and avoid obstacles, and it also carries an IMU. It is programmed in Arduino, and Hiwonder provides tutorials, open-source code and schematics. The Advanced Kit adds a Wi-Fi vision module, an AI voice interaction module, a touch sensor, infrared sensors and a dot matrix display, for colour and face recognition, target tracking, voice control and fall prevention at edges.
Zeta42 is an authorised Hiwonder partner in the Middle East.

What it does
Built for.
18 joints and inverse kinematics
Three joints in each of its six legs and built-in inverse kinematics let miniHexa walk in any direction and adjust its roll, pitch, height and centre of gravity.
Ultrasonic sensing
The glowing ultrasonic sensor on an I2C interface measures the distance ahead in real time so miniHexa can avoid obstacles on its own, and its RGB lights can be set to any colour.
Vision and voice (Advanced Kit)
The Wi-Fi vision module recognises colours and faces, tracks targets and follows lines, with a live video feed. The voice module hears commands up to 5 metres away, replies aloud, and announces obstacles and the colours it sees.
More sensors (Advanced Kit)
A touch sensor triggers actions, infrared sensors detect edges to prevent falls and widen obstacle detection, and the dot matrix display shows distance readings.
Arduino and open source
miniHexa is programmed in Arduino with tutorials, open-source code and schematics, and it can also be driven from PC software or the Android and iOS app.
Aluminium frame
The body is thickened hard aluminium alloy, and two 18650 lithium batteries give up to 60 minutes of running time.
