Nexbit

A micro:bit robot car with ultrasonic and line sensors; kits above the Starter add WonderCam AI vision.

  • micro:bit
  • Suggested for primary
  • Suggested for secondary

Nexbit is a small robot car controlled by a micro:bit V2 and programmed through micro:bit. It carries a glowy ultrasonic sensor for measuring distance and avoiding obstacles, a 4-channel line follower with an adjustable sensitivity knob, and a rechargeable lithium battery with a USB charging port. In every kit except the Starter Kit, a WonderCam AI vision module with its own screen adds colour, number and face recognition, waste-card sorting, target tracking, vision line following, and road sign and traffic light recognition. The Smart Traffic Kit and the Intelligent Transportation Kit add a map and props for traffic and transport projects.

What it does

Built for.

  • WonderCam AI vision

Outside the Starter Kit, the WonderCam module adds an HD camera and a 2.0-inch screen that frames what it recognises. A hinge bracket sets its angle, and built-in learning algorithms cover colours, numbers, faces, tags and lines.

  • Glowy ultrasonic sensor

The ultrasonic sensor measures distance for obstacle avoidance and lights up in different colours as real-time feedback.

  • 4-channel line follower

The line follower has an adjustable sensitivity knob for reliable line following.

  • Traffic projects

With WonderCam, Nexbit recognises road signs for going straight, turning and U-turns, and reads traffic lights. The Smart Traffic Kit adds intersection judgement, and the Intelligent Transportation Kit adds autonomous transport.

  • Control and expansion

The iOS and Android app shows how to assemble the robot and drives it remotely, and it also supports Handlebit remote control. I2C, GPIO and 4-pin ports on the base board take extra sensors and a gripper.
