AiNova Autonomous Driving Kit

A model traffic scene for AiNova: a map, a programmable traffic light, road signs and voice, coded in Scratch.

The AiNova Autonomous Driving Kit is a small AI traffic demonstration platform. It combines the AiNova vision robot car with a map, a programmable traffic light, road signs and other scenario accessories, assembled by following Hiwonder's tutorials. Programmed in Scratch, AiNova uses its WonderCam module to recognise traffic lights and road signs, acts on what it sees, and announces it through an MP3 module. It is designed as a first step into robotics for beginners.

What it does

Built for.

  • Programmable traffic light

The traffic light stands on a solid alloy frame, and its colour is set from a Scratch program.

  • Road sign recognition

AiNova's WonderCam AI vision module detects the road signs ahead, and the car carries out the matching action.

  • MP3 voice broadcast

The MP3 module decodes MP3, WAV and WMA files in hardware, with 30 volume levels, so the car can announce what it is doing.

  • Expandable controller

The CoreX controller has a built-in button, buzzer, sound sensor and infrared receiver, plus 4-pin sensor ports for expansion.

  • Scratch for beginners

Block-based Scratch programming in WonderCode keeps the first steps simple for learners who are new to coding.

Where it is used

Applications.

  • Showing how self-driving cars read traffic lights and road signs
  • Primary and lower secondary coding lessons in Scratch
  • STEAM demonstrations and open days
  • Group projects that program a whole traffic scene
