LanderPi
A Raspberry Pi 5 ROS2 robot car with a 6DOF arm and lidar, on a mecanum, Ackerman or tank chassis.
- Raspberry Pi
- Suggested for secondary
- Suggested for university
LanderPi is a composite ROS teaching robot from Hiwonder: a Raspberry Pi 5 robot car carrying a 6DOF robotic arm, on a mecanum wheel, Ackerman or tank chassis. A lidar handles SLAM mapping, path planning and obstacle avoidance, and in the Standard and Advanced kits a 3D depth camera on the end of the arm lets it recognise, track and grasp objects, so it can drive to a target, pick it up and carry it. The Advanced Kit adds the WonderEcho Pro AI voice box for voice control and large AI model applications through ChatGPT. Hiwonder provides open-source code and learning resources.

What it does
Built for.
Three chassis
Choose a mecanum wheel chassis for movement in any direction, an Ackerman chassis with car-style steering, or a tank chassis on tracks.
Lidar SLAM
The lidar maps a space and supports path planning, fixed-point and multi-point navigation, dynamic obstacle avoidance and multi-robot mapping.
3D vision on the arm
The depth camera gives the arm a first-person view for recognising, tracking and grasping objects, and can measure distance and estimate an object's height and volume.
Voice and large AI models
In the Advanced Kit, the WonderEcho Pro voice box and ChatGPT let LanderPi navigate to spoken destinations, describe its surroundings, patrol lines and track objects.
Choosing a kit
The Starter Kit has a monocular camera and lidar, the Standard Kit a 3D depth camera and lidar, and the Advanced Kit adds the voice box. Kits without a Raspberry Pi 5 do not include a microSD card.
URDF simulation
LanderPi supports URDF simulation, and RViz shows mapping and navigation results for debugging and tuning algorithms.
