xArm ESP32
An assembled aluminium desktop arm on an open-source ESP32 controller, programmed in MicroPython.
- ESP32
- Suggested for secondary
xArm ESP32 is an open-source desktop robot arm with an ESP32 controller as its main control system. It is programmed in MicroPython, and the ESP32 core board brings Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless data transfer. Intelligent bus servos drive five degrees of freedom and a gripper, and the base servo has 25 kg of torque, so the arm can lift objects of up to 500 g while moving smoothly. The controller's expansion interface works with Hiwonder's sensor expansion packages and Python editor, and Hiwonder provides a full analysis of the arm's inverse kinematics. It is sold assembled, with a PS2 wireless controller.
Zeta42 is an authorised Hiwonder partner in the Middle East.

What it does
Built for.
Open-source ESP32 controller
A modular design pairs an ESP32 core board with an expansion board that has servo ports, a buzzer, an LED, a USB port and interfaces for sensors and modules.
MicroPython
Write programs in MicroPython with Hiwonder's Python editor software, and use the board's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless projects.
High-torque bus servos
Intelligent serial bus servos give accurate position and data feedback with simple wiring, and the 25 kg base servo lets the arm lift up to 500 g.
Inverse kinematics
Hiwonder's analysis of the xArm ESP32's inverse kinematics explains the logic behind how the arm moves.
App, PC and group control
The app moves the arm by dragging a 2D model and edits action groups; the PC software builds actions too. A PS2 wireless controller or a mouse can drive it, and several xArm ESP32 arms can be controlled as a group over Bluetooth.
Expansion
The expansion interface takes Hiwonder's sensor expansion pack for projects such as gripping by ultrasonic distance, colour, infrared or touch, and the arm also works with Hiwonder's synchronisation controller and wireless glove. None of these is in the assembled arm package.
