Humanoids
AiNex
A ROS humanoid robot on Raspberry Pi with up to 24 degrees of freedom, inverse kinematics and AI vision.

- Suggested for secondary
- Suggested for university
AiNex is a humanoid robot built on ROS and controlled by a Raspberry Pi. The Standard Kit has 24 degrees of freedom and the Starter Kit 20. A self-stabilising inverse kinematics gait lets it walk, climb steps, clear hurdles and turn, and its height, turning radius and speed can all be adjusted. A 120° HD camera on a two-axis head handles line following, target tracking and ball shooting, and the Standard Kit's hands add picking, sorting and carrying. Hiwonder supplies ROS source code, simulation models and tutorials.
Zeta42 is an authorised Hiwonder partner in the Middle East.

What it does
Built for.
Inverse kinematics gait
The self-stabilising gait adjusts height, speed, direction and turning radius, and lets AiNex climb steps, clear hurdles and duck through low gaps.
Hip joints that turn
Two hip joints rotate the legs on the X, Y and Z axes for more flexible turning. Each uses an HX-35HM servo with a 12-bit magnetic encoder for accurate, contact-free position feedback.
Vision on a moving head
The 120° HD camera turns up, down, left and right and has manual focus. With OpenCV and Python, AiNex tracks colours, detects faces and reads tags.
Hands that open and close
The Standard Kit's hands grab and carry small items, and their servos report angle and temperature to avoid damage when something blocks them.
ROS and Gazebo
AiNex is built on ROS with full source code and simulation models, and Gazebo lets algorithms be tested in simulation before they run on the robot.
Action editing without code
Graphical PC software moves the servos with sliders, so new actions can be built and saved without programming.
