uHandPi
A Raspberry Pi 5 robotic hand with an HD camera for colour, face and gesture tracking, programmed in Python.
- Raspberry Pi
- Suggested for secondary
- Suggested for university
uHandPi is an AI robotic hand driven by a Raspberry Pi 5. Five fingers on a linkage structure and a flexible wrist give lifelike movement and rotation, and a built-in HD camera handles colour recognition, face detection, gesture tracking and sorting. With machine learning and MediaPipe it can play rock, paper, scissors. Learners program it in Python with OpenCV, change its functions in code over VNC, edit movements in the PC software or drive it from the iOS and Android app. It comes with a 2GB, 4GB or 8GB Raspberry Pi 5, as a left or a right hand.

What it does
Built for.
Raspberry Pi 5 controller
The Raspberry Pi 5 and its expansion board run motion control, machine vision and OpenCV projects.
HD camera
The USB plug-and-play camera uses a GC0308 image sensor of 300,000 pixels, with a 130° field of view.
AI vision
uHandPi recognises and tracks colours and faces, tracks hand gestures, and uses MediaPipe for games such as rock, paper, scissors.
Linkage fingers and anti-blocking servos
Hiwonder's linkage design controls each finger's opening and closing. LFD-01 anti-blocking servos with stall protection drive the fingers, and an LD-1501MG digital servo turns the hand through 180°.
Three ways to control it
Run or modify the built-in functions in code over VNC, set servo angles and edit actions by drag and drop in the PC software, or use the iOS and Android app.
