Food production robot UAE: what Circus's Abu Dhabi launch tells buyers
Zeta42 · 14 October 2026
Circus SE has started commercial food robotics operations in Abu Dhabi with a contract caterer. Here is what its certification and local supply plans mean for a UAE buyer.
A food production robot UAE caterers and food producers can actually book is now operating in Abu Dhabi. Circus SE, a German company, announced on 22 September 2026 that it has started commercial operations in the UAE, its first market outside Europe, beginning at a location in Abu Dhabi with Dubai to follow. The details of the launch show what a buyer should look for in any food robotics offer.
What Circus announced
According to the company's press release, the launch starts a build-out of autonomous AI robotics infrastructure for food production in the Gulf. A press and launch event for its CA-1 system was set for 6 October 2026 in Abu Dhabi. Circus describes itself as a dual-use technology company that develops AI models, autonomous robotic systems and an operating platform, and says its serial production of meal supply robotics is live.
The company also says it was the first in food robotics to receive full regulatory certification in the region, under the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme run by the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. An earlier Circus announcement said the certification clears its CA-1 Series 4 food production systems for use in the UAE, with large-scale infrastructure, commercial sites and high-rise residential and office developments as target markets.
The launch partner and local supply
The launch partner is Royal Prestige Food Contracts, a contract caterer that the release says produces more than 3 million meals a year for clients including the UAE Army, the UAE Royal Palace, UAE ministries, ADNOC and the Red Crescent. Circus says its robots will run entirely on local sourcing through Royal Prestige, and that its Circus Pods, the refill units for the robots, are set to be produced locally so the supply chain is built in the region from the first day.
Those two points matter more to a buyer than the machine itself. A robot that cannot be refilled locally, or that is not cleared for import, is a project with a gap in the middle.
Questions for a food production robot UAE buyer
Whether the kit comes from this company or another, the questions are the same.
- Is it certified for the UAE? Ask for the certificate, who issued it and which model it covers.
- Where do the consumables come from? If a robot depends on refills or parts shipped from abroad, ask how long a delay would stop the line.
- Which job does it do, and how long does that job take today? A robot is sized to a task and a volume, so time the task before talking to a supplier.
- Who trains the people who work next to it? The operators and the cleaning and maintenance staff need training before the first shift.
The same sequence applies to any robot job. For industry, Zeta42 times the job, supplies the robot, integrates it and trains the operators, and it offers ready-made work cells for palletising, welding, screwdriving and machine tending. You can see how that works on our robot work cells page.
What this means for kitchens and factories
The Royal Prestige tie-up shows the first customers for this kind of system are large contract operations with a steady volume, serving many people around the clock. A small kitchen or a single production line has a different case to make, and the answer may be a smaller automation step such as packing or palletising at the end of the line rather than a full autonomous system.
The launch is also an early sign of what the regulator expects. A supplier that has already gone through the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme has shown it can get a robot through the process, and buyers can ask any other supplier the same thing. The coming months will show how the Abu Dhabi site performs and how fast Dubai follows. Until then, the release gives a buyer a useful checklist rather than a performance record: certification, local supply, a named customer and a date for the next city.
Common questions
- Is a food production robot certified for use in the UAE?
- Circus SE says its CA-1 Series 4 systems received full regulatory certification under the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme of the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. A buyer of any robot should ask the supplier for the certificate and the models it covers.
- Who is the first UAE customer for Circus's food robots?
- Circus names Royal Prestige Food Contracts, a contract caterer, as its launch partner. The release says it produces more than 3 million meals a year for clients including UAE ministries and ADNOC.
- What should I check before automating food production in the UAE?
- Check the certification, where refills and spare parts are sourced locally, how long the task takes today, and who will train your operators. Zeta42 times the job, supplies the robot, integrates it and trains the operators.
